In 2021, during the long, meandering days of the COVID era, I found myself trapped in an endless cycle of boredom. I had exhausted every recipe YouTube had to offer, dabbled in countless hobbies—from resin art to whimsical doodling—and even experimented with cement art and NFTs. But nothing truly ignited a spark in me.
Then, in a serendipitous scroll through Pinterest, I stumbled upon the cutest crochet bag.
As a fashion student, I had encountered crochet in my coursework, though I’ll admit—I never quite grasped it. My mother had been my silent savior when it came to assignments, leaving me clueless about the craft itself. But with an abundance of time and an unrelenting urge to create, I decided to dive in.
Determined, I scoured YouTube for tutorials. My early attempts were far from perfect—I chose the wrong yarn, struggled through stitches, and unraveled more than I completed. But every mistake fueled my resolve. And then, finally, I crafted my very first crochet bag.
As I began taking on clients for my clothing designs, I subtly placed that bag in the background, hoping it might catch a glance of admiration. To my surprise, it became the center of attention. That one piece sparked curiosity, leading to an influx of custom orders—culminating in a festive batch of 30 bags for Raksha Bandhan. It was then that I realized: I love fashion, but creating something with my own hands resonated with me on a deeper level.
And so, Stushè was born.
What began as a side hustle, fueled purely by passion, quickly transformed into a thriving brand. Today, every Stushè bag is a labor of love, crafted with meticulous care using premium vegan yarns. In just two years, I’ve handcrafted over 5,000 bags—now supported by a remarkable team of underprivileged superwomen who weave their own dreams into every stitch. Together, we don’t just create bags; we craft pieces of art, infused with heart and purpose.
For me, Stushè is more than a brand—it’s the satisfaction of creation.
